At Krishna Health Centre, we do practice the 4M concepts, in such a combination with the use of hands in a curative and healing manner or a hands-on technique with therapeutic intent. As well, with these advanced combination we enhance the healing experience for patients. 4M-Ortho Therapy is an advanced non-surgical orthopaedic manual treatment named after Dr. Brian R.Mulligan, Dr.Jenny McConnell, Dr.Robin McKenzie and Dr.Geoffrey D Maitland. Medication in the long-term often brings with it unwanted side effects. Surgery does not always provide a permanent solution. However, many of these problems can be addressed through 4M-Ortho Therapy, It is a non-invasive, drug less treatment that involves physical, postural correction by an authenticated trained practitioner.
Mulligan manual therapy techniques were discovered and developed by Brian Mulligan F.N.Z.S.P. (Hon), Dip. M.T., Wellington, New Zealand. This simple yet effective manual approach addresses musculoskeletal disorders with pain free manual joint “repositioning” techniques for restoration of function and abolition of pain.
The concepts developed by Australian manual scientist Jenny McConnell are based on an understanding of the influence of posture on dynamic activities as a causative factor for musculoskeletal symptoms and the beneficial effects of unloading soft tissue, usually with tape, to immediately decrease pain and optimize treatment effects.
The McKenzie method (also MDT = Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy) is a comprehensive method of care primarily used in manual therapy. McKenzie method was developed by Robin McKenzie, from New Zealand.
"The Maitland Concept of Manipulative Therapy, emphasizes a specific way of thinking, continuous evaluation and assessment and the art of manipulative therapy (“know when, how and which techniques to perform, and adapt these to the individual Patient”) and a total commitment to the patient." Geoffrey D Maitland, an Australian scientist and co-founder of the IFOMT (International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapists), developed this special treatment.
